BREAK'T

BREAK'T was made for the LÖVE Jam 2021, where I continued my tradition
of taking an old school game and modifying it's core mechanic slightly
with hopefully cool results.
And a cool result I did get! Taking breakout and moving the player's
control from the paddle to the ball makes it a completely different
but fun game.
We added cool supporting mechanics like unbreakable blocks, pickups, a sometimes over-eager paddle, and some healthy amount of screen-shake and got a game that's -if I can say so myself- quite addictive, and with the +30 levels there's plenty of content to play with.
I focused a lot on making this game polished, in a way where it's attractive: A cutesy art style, transitions everywhere, fun audio and effects, a menu, and even a global highscore system that I custom built. We even added a secret level with an exclusive soundtrack which can only be accessed by solving a puzzle hidden in the levels.
I'm really happy with how the game turned out. It marked a new milestone in the level of quality of my games, and I'm hoping to not only keep that quality up, but also improve from here.
